Now that summer is here, it's time to put down the self-tanning products and go outside. There's nothing quite like the sun-kissed glow achieved from the summertime sun. If you've spent all winter slathering on sunless tanner, however, you may…
Beauty trends to get onto this autumn
The autumn runways have revealed the season’s hottest cold weather beauty trends and many of them simple enough to do ourselves! These looks are low maintenance, yet creative, and they can be easily recreated with accessories and products that you may already own.
Glowing, Dewy Skin
The make-up look of the season is the “no-make-up” look. Yes, really. Made popular by the so-called “no make-up revolution,” the trend is effortless.
Are you still afraid of putting your true self out there? Don’t fret. You can still use a touch of product to even out your complexion. Use a stippling brush dipped in a foundation or tinted moisturiser and sweep the product over your face, allowing it to appear radiant and smooth. Don’t forget to set the colour with a premium setting spray to lock in the glow. To maintain your summer tan a bit longer, try a self-tan oil that will act as a bronzer, moisturiser and, most important, give you that dewy glow.
In order to keep your skin healthy and moist, be sure to exfoliate biweekly. Then, use a hydrating liquid illuminator above each cheekbone. Remember, the trend for autumn 2017 is bare contrasted with bold. This means clean skin with deep or bright hues on either the lips, eyes, or both.
Hair, the Long and Short of It
The hair trend that stands out the most in 2017 is what is being referred to as the “slept-in” texture. It’s tousled and airy, similar to the quality of tresses that have been freshly washed. It’s high impact, while still managing to be low maintenance. It’s best to attempt this with shorter styles, like the blunt lobs and edgy styles found on the runways this season. It will be a cinch to style with a bit of texturising spray for lift.
If you don’t want to commit to the cut, there are several hot long hair trends to consider instead. Try flat ironing your hair until it is pin straight and slick it back into a narrow ponytail. You should use non-sulfate shampoo and conditioner to increase your natural shine and gloss. If your hair is course or unruly, you may want to consider getting a Brazilian blowout.
For a quick long hair makeover, try a deep side part. This will dramatically change your appearance without trying a new cut or colour. It looks attractive whether you wear the trend with soft waves, or opt for an updo or low chignon. Speaking of chignons, another popular go-to this season is decorative hair accessories. Whether you prefer a plain black ribbon, velvet-covered barrettes, or wide headbands, accessories can dress up any style, no matter how ordinary.
Then there are the psychedelic dyes that have been seen in recent fashion magazines. It is about time that the fashion world caught up to the street scene, as this has been a hot look for years. From electric blue to subtle touches of red to pastel multi-colored “unicorn” tresses, the punchy, bold colors seen in the clubs are finally acknowledged by insiders. Just remember that these bright shades can drown you out if you have lighter skin, and you should try to add some subtle colour with a gradual tanner.
The formulaic, traditional smoky eye for winter has overstayed its welcome… instead, look for colour-blocked shadows in bright, funky colours like orange and lime green! Along with non-traditional liner, neon colours are this season’s stand-out eye trend. One of the hippest looks in magazines right now is pink eyeliner on the top lash line with lavender on the bottom.
Brows are also following the unkempt trend of autumn 2017. This year there is no need for arches and grooming to perfection. You can either trim your brow straight or to the form that yours naturally take. This bountiful look helps you to look younger and less severe. You don’t even need pencils this season. Just add a bit of tinted brow gel, and maybe a tad of brow powder and you are all set. Use a disposable mascara wand for shaping. If your brows are a bit skimpy, don’t worry. Just fill in the blanks with slight colour.
Lips – Pale or Pronounced?
There are two distinct trends on the horizon for lips this fall. There is the pale, pinkish, or even nude colour that is meant to overemphasise the bold eye colours that will be dominating the scene, but there is also the deep burgundy or maroon shades that are designed to match them. Like eyeliner, the darker-hued lipstick this fall will be smeared and messily applied.
Many women may even apply lip color with their fingers to get that sloppy look. Pencils and lipstains are best for layering deeper colors to get that “witchy” feel. If you are not a fan of plum, you can even try jet black this season without risking looking goth. Pile the colour on and let it fade all day as you wear it.
On the opposite spectrum, clear gloss, peach, and pale coral are being used sans liner to create a soft contrast to the striking eye looks that are upcoming. Try to retain your summer glow if you tread toward these lighter shades. Pink is not just a summer shade. It works just as well in the early autumn, but it can blend too easily into pale skin.
It’s almost time to embrace the cool breezes and hayrides of fall. The dichotomy this autumn between the understated and the dramatic is fresh, unique, and the look to watch for, so keep these tips in mind as soon as the summer heat fades and maintain that summer skin all autumn long with our range of products to make you glow!
